Pre-Survey Scouting, Socialisation and Clearing
SMS firstly notify all relevant local government departments before mobilising our experienced on shore socialisation teams. Following this, a pre survey assessment of the intended area is conducted to establish and quantify fishing activities, methods and shipping movement in and around the prospect.
A complete and comprehensive pre survey program includes:
A highly organised and efficient socialisation program carried out by our onshore team including members of local fishing and marine departments, resulting in clear communications and understanding within all affected fishing communties of the region.
Identifying and recording the position of all fixed hazards, and removed if necessary in accordance with survey vessel directives. Our chase vessel coordinators are extremely thorough, following a detailed scouting plan to ensure all potential hazards both fixed and floating, are located and reported.
Acquisition and accurate recording of all necessary bathymetry data, predominant weather patterns, as well as current and tidal movements in the area. By using the latest equipment and programs, our coordinators are able to accurately record vital depth soundings especially for areas in close proximity to shallow shoals and coastal turn coridors. All data is promptly sent through to the party chief and navigation department to assist in establishing safe access of all intended acquisition lines.
The reputation of our pre survey scouting efforts are second to none, and all important to the successful outcome of any survey.
